The Deadly Kanjai Valley Route

Caution… Be Alert… Beware…
Truck Falls into Gorge After Losing Control, Driver and Conductor Escape Unhurt

Lalbarra [Mateen Raza] [SD News Agency]: – If you or your family members are traveling on National Highway 72, which connects Balaghat and Seoni, be cautious and alert, especially on the Kanjai Valley section of the highway. The shadow of death constantly looms over this route, as vehicle accidents have become a regular occurrence. The landslides and erosion on the hill have been ongoing since last year’s monsoon, but the authorities have made no significant efforts to repair the road and ensure safe passage for travelers.

A similar incident occurred on the morning of September 5, around 5 AM, when an oil-laden truck lost control and fell into a gorge. The driver and conductor were injured in the accident. An auto driver acted as a savior and took the injured driver to the community health center, while the conductor, despite minor injuries, stayed to look after the truck.

According to available information, Rajkumar, son of Premsingh Merskole, a resident of Guliambada in the Junnardev Tehsil of Chhindwara district, along with his conductor, was driving truck number MP 09 HH 2259, loaded with cans of edible oil from Indore to Balaghat. Due to the poor condition of the Kanjai Valley road, the truck lost control and met with an accident. Fortunately, both the driver and the conductor suffered only minor injuries and narrowly escaped a major mishap.
