New Delhi, August 25, 2024 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the 113th episode of his monthly radio broadcast “Mann Ki Baat,” addressed the nation on Sunday, highlighting the significance of recent national achievements and encouraging youth participation in politics, especially those without a political lineage.
The Prime Minister began by celebrating the success of Chandrayaan-3 and marking August 23 as the first National Space Day. Reflecting on the historic event, he said, “Last year, on this day, Chandrayaan-3 made a successful landing on the southern part of the moon at the Shiv-Shakti point.” PM Modi lauded the efforts of various organizations and individuals contributing to environmental preservation and emphasized the need for collective action in these areas.
PM Modi also underscored the transformative developments taking place in India in the 21st century, stating that these efforts are strengthening the foundation for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). He pointed out that recent reforms in the space sector have particularly benefitted the nation’s youth, who are now playing a pivotal role in this growing industry.
In a notable segment of his address, the Prime Minister revisited his Independence Day appeal from this year, where he urged one lakh youths who do not come from political backgrounds to connect with the political system. “This point of mine has garnered tremendous response,” PM Modi noted, adding that a large number of young people are eager to enter politics but are seeking the right opportunities and guidance.
The Prime Minister revealed that he had received numerous letters and social media messages from young Indians in response to his call. Many expressed that while they were keen to participate in politics, they found it challenging due to the absence of a political legacy. “During the freedom movement, countless people from all walks of life, without any political background, devoted themselves entirely to India’s independence. Today, to achieve the vision of a Viksit Bharat, we need to rekindle that same spirit once again,” PM Modi said.
The “Mann Ki Baat” program was broadcast at 11 a.m. across All India Radio, television channels, and digital platforms. Following the Hindi broadcast, Akashwani aired the program in regional languages. Launched on October 3, 2014, “Mann Ki Baat” has become a vital communication channel for PM Modi, connecting with citizens on pressing national issues and reaching out to various segments of society, including women, the elderly, and the youth. The previous episode, the 112th edition, was aired on July 28, 2024.
As “Mann Ki Baat” continues to inspire and engage listeners across the country, the Prime Minister’s call for youth participation in politics reflects his vision of a more inclusive and dynamic political landscape, driving India towards its goal of becoming a developed nation.
